Welcoming Spring Tablescape

Ah Spring!  My favorite season of the year! I could not wait to set a Spring tablescape to welcome you into our home!
Welcoming Spring Tablescape
I wanted to greet Spring with all of the colors of the season. Bright colors and pastels all seemed appropriate.
Welcoming Spring Tablescape
I started with my favorite Spring plaid tablecloth and then added a bright green charger, my favorite Spring dinner plates, Forget-Me-Not pattern by English Staffordshire and a white embossed salad plate, an unnamed Johnson Bros. pattern.

My MIL, Linda, has been such a fun helper in setting my tables.  She folded up the pale pink napkins and found the pretty flower napkin rings in my large stash. We both agreed, placing them on the plates adds the perfect height to the stack.

When I saw these drawer dividers at IKEA recently, I just knew they would NOT be used to control Mr. B's socks!

I knew they would be the perfect garden fence for my Spring table centerpiece!

I used a faux grass mat from Hobby Lobby and added a sweet yellow bird and some faux daffodils. Remember, it's not what it is but, what it can be!

I have had this gardening book forever and I think it is perfect for this table!

I added in some sparkle on the table with Godinger crystal water goblets, canape plates, salt & pepper, butter dish and sugar and creamer.

I think my Godinger collection is growing as fast as my Candlewick!

Even though the days are longer and the sun shines later, you sometimes need some candle light.

I purchased these sweet wheelbarrow votive holders from Kirkland's on clearance for $1.79 each.

The only thing new for this Spring tablescape, with the exception of the garden fence, are fresh flowers from the grocery store.  They recently opened a new King Soopers (part of the Kroger family of stores) near me and I am thrilled that they have a big selection of marked down bouquets in the floral department. This bunch set me back all of $4.99!

I can't wait until flowers start blooming throughout the neighborhood!

So tell me, are you anxious for Spring or, has it already arrived in your area?

You're Gonna Love It~The Green Edition

Happy Party day my friends!  Also, Happy St. Patrick's Day Week to you all! Confession time.  It has to be totally wrong when your last name is Burke and you have nothing in your wardrobe that is green to wear!  Green is just not my color but I don't wanna get pinched so, I may just hide out at home for the day. Or, maybe it's time we put an end to all of that pinching nonsense and just have a fun day? Speaking of fun!  The funnest day of the week is right here, right now!  Let's party!

It's Time For
The Features of the Week
The most clicked on link from last week came from Jen over at the Cincy Shopper blog.
Jen shared her copycat recipe for the yummy Starbucks Egg Salad Sandwich OhMerGerd! There is nothing I like more for lunch than an eggy sandwich just brimming with flavor!

My top pick is this adorable Spring Wreath
Sweet Inspirations has Spring just overflowing on her front door.  It just screams "Welcome" to me!

If you have been featured here, or over at my bee-yoo-tee-ful & fabulous co-hort Kim's blog, (she has a different Pick of the Week so go check it out...was it you?) make sure to grab an I've Been Featured button here.

Just a reminder: IF you follow me on Facebook you get first notice of this party going live each week.  Plus, I share some pretty funny and awesome stuff on my page too!

Now, are you ready to party??

My top pick of the week came from Treat And Treat.
Oh yeah!  You totally have to pin this Peach Slab Pie recipe to make once fresh peaches start hitting the store!

Making The Kitchen Mine~Before & After

When we first came to look at our house to buy, one thing I knew would change, if we bought it, was the kitchen backsplash.
How a simple coat of paint can make a world of difference in a space, and make it yours!
The painted faux stones and other "artistic" touches were so not me!

The house was built in 2006 but I am sure faux ivy went out of style in the 1980's.
How a simple coat of paint can make a world of difference in a space, and make it yours!
I can't even begin to tell you how dark all of this made working on the counter. It was dated, it looked so fake and it totally was not me.  It was time to make it mine!

Luckily, my MIL, Linda, was begging me for a project to do.  Plus, we were expecting another snowstorm that would keep us home bound.  So, before the snow flew, I grabbed the leftover can of paint from when we painted over the hot mess pink in the guest bedroom, had the guys at Home Depot mix us up a quart, got some primer and we were ready to freshen things up.

I did the cutting in while Linda manned the roller.  One coat of primer and 2 coats of perfectly matched paint was all it took.

With the taping and waiting for paint to dry it took us approximately 5 hours.
We did all of it without telling Mr. B too.  He knew how I felt about the backsplash but I wasn't sure if he was in love with it or hated it as much as I did.
How a simple coat of paint can make a world of difference in a space, and make it yours!
No worries!  He loves how bright and light the space looks now! Linda & I swear the room is now 2 feet wider!  It's all an illusion of course, but it totally made a huge difference in the feel of the space!
How a simple coat of paint can make a world of difference in a space, and make it yours!
Now, I feel like the kitchen is truly my space and not the previous owner's!
How a simple coat of paint can make a world of difference in a space, and make it yours!
How about you?  Do you have a spot in your home you are wanting to make yours?  Tell me about it in the comments below.

Saying Good-Bye To Winter Rustic Tablescape

With Spring just days away and all of us being just sick to death with this winter we have been dealing with, I set a table specifically to say Buh-Bye to Old Man Winter!
Winter RusticTablescape
I had purchased these plates off of Craiglist last year.
Winter RusticTablescape
I love how they look like they are cross-stitched. And the deer in the center of the salad plate is...well..dear! I know I could have used them during the Christmas season, and they would have been perfect, but I saw them more as winter dishes.
Winter RusticTablescape
They came as a set of four dinner and four salad plates.
Winter RusticTablescape
I could have played off of the blue but I decided to use the light touches of green in the plates for some of the accessories, like the napkins and the green ball jars.
Winter RusticTablescape
I had picked up the wooden coasters at World Market over the holidays.
Winter RusticTablescape
The birch wrapped candles were an after Christmas clearance find.
Winter RusticTablescape
And that sweet moose tooshy you see above?
Winter RusticTablescape

Winter RusticTablescape
My mother-in-law, Linda, saw it at Lowes and bought it for me for my birthday.
Winter RusticTablescape
The cute yellow butterfly on his antler surely means Spring IS coming!
Winter RusticTablescape
Speaking of birthday gifts and antlers, my dear friend Christine that blogs over at Rustic And Refined knew I had fallen in love with her use of antlers and sent me a beautiful basket filled with burlap, purple mesh and 4 antlers of my very own!
Winter RusticTablescape
I scrunched up the burlap into a runner for the center of the table and also used some to wrap around a candle in the lantern for the centerpiece.
Winter RusticTablescape
I then lovingly placed the antlers here and there around the lantern.
Winter RusticTablescape
Thank you so much Christine!  Look at me!  I'm all Rustic and Refined now too!

Now that I have set the table to say good-bye to winter, I can't wait to set the next tablescape, Hello Spring!!
