18 Fall Decorating Ideas

It wasn't always the case but now, I just kinda love Fall!  I thought of Autumn as the end. Flowers fading and the sun setting so much sooner. Then, Mr. B tuned me in to what Fall was really all about. The warm days, the cooler nights, the colors, the smells.  I didn't realize what I was missing about this season. Now, I love all things Fall. I especially have come to adore decorating this time of year! And today, I am sharing some of the best Fall decorating ideas from some of my favorite bloggers with you!

Fall Porch Decorations

Fall Porch Decorations - Kathe With An E
Last year, when we made the decision to move, one of my must haves in a new home was a big front porch.  Well friends, I got it!

Not only is it long, it is deep too! And, I love it!  Now that we have been here a full year, it was time for me to take my decorating outside and set up some Fall porch decorations.

Nothing too over the top.  The metal gate piece behind the scarecrow is from under the back deck.  The previous owners had a dog that they kept contained under there.  You all know, no one contains our Max, so he was okay with me using it in my porch vignette.

Everything else came from Michael's.  I bought them over the course of several weeks to take advantage of sales and coupons.  That plan really helped to keep the decor on the cheap.

Lowes had them at buy 1 get 1 free, making them so affordable! I left them in their pots so that in a few weeks I can plant a few in the ground to come back next year. I used some summer annuals that had survived the heat we've had the past few weeks as filler and thriller.

Having this front porch to decorate is like having a whole other room! In just a few weeks, it will be transformed again, for Halloween!  And!  I already have BIG plans for Christmas!!

Fall Mantle Decor

Fall.  The date may say it is still Summer.   The day time temperatures definitely say it's still Summer (minus that little dusting of snow we got last week. Yes.It.Snowed.Here.). But, once the sun sets, the chill and crisp air say it's Fall.  Time to get out my bins and set up my Fall mantle decor.

I am still keeping my inner pledge to keep any of my decor simple and understated.  Not to say it's been easy. I do have to rein it in every now and then.

Just a few loved items make up the mantel for the Fall season.

You may remember this pretty pumpkin from my post last week. The copper owl was a gift from my dear MIL.

In the center, under the clock, a small ceramic white pumpkin sits in a pile of leaves.

You can't tell but it is cradled in a beautiful faux candlewick candy dish that was a housewarming gift from my dear blogging friend, Barbara.

The left side of the mantel is another copper owl from the MIL.  Yes, she got me two of them! The candle sticks and candles I have had forever now. The little plate was also from my recent shopping trip. A single leafy garland finishes it up.

I have been wanting a basket to put near the fireplace to hold blankets and throws in the colder months.  When I saw this one, on clearance, at Michael's I knew it was perfect! A few seasonal gourds, ceramic acorns and ears of colorful corn atop a fall throw, makes the hearth feel even warmer and cozier.

Another faux pumpkin and a tall metal urn are all that was needed for the right side of the fireplace.

I added the banner I made several years ago across the front and called it done.

Corn Husk Fall Wreath

Corn Husk Fall Wreath - Kathe With An E
The weather is definitely changing here in Colorado!  We've had a few hot days the past week but, looking forward in the forecast, we will be more seasonal going forward.  The nights have really begun to chill off too.  All meaning that, in just a few weeks, it will officially be Fall.  To welcome one of my favorite seasons, I made a Corn Husk Fall Wreath to put on the door to greet it.

Corn husks just seemed to say "Fall" to me so I picked up a bag of them in the ethnic aisle at my grocery store.

Once home, I gathered up my supplies and started creating.

I used a leftover cardboard plate protector as the base, but you could easily cut out a round in any available cardboard. I had painted some of the husks orange, but once I went to place them on the wreath, I didn't like the look and wound up not using them. No worries!  There are plenty of husks in the package!

Once I had hot glued several layers of husks I added a big metal sunflower I had purchased at Michael's on sale and with a coupon!

Fall Tablescape

We had such beautiful weather this weekend.
We were able to have the doors and windows wide open,
letting in the fresh Fall air.
That will change during the week though,
Snow and wind is expected.  Typical Fall weather in the Rockies.

In anticipation of the cooler I set a Fall tablescape with the warm colors of the season.
Fall Table Decor
I found this beautiful tablecloth at Home Goods when my mother-in-law and I went shopping on Canadian Thanksgiving.
Fall Table Decor
I fell in love with the paisley leaves and the Fall colors.
Although, I don't think it screams Fall and I am hoping I can use it with other tablescapes.
I thought the Cost Plus World Market via Goodwill woven oval place mat was a good anchor for my place settings.
Decorating for Fall
I used my green ruffled dinner plates with a ruffled red salad plate, both bought years ago on clearance from JC Penney. A white Gibson Everyday bowl tops it off.
Fall Decor
The napkin rings were another Goodwill find.  5 for $1.00.  I left them with their tarnished finish as I thought it added a rustic touch to the table.
The napkins are from Bed Bath & Beyond.
Fall Decor
The design in the flatware reminds me of the wind
blowing the fallen leaves around.
Fall Decor
I just love the dark amber glasses I found at Goodwill last year.  .49 each!  Be still my heart at that kind of a bargain!
Fall Decor
A green mercury glass candle stem from Burlington Coat Factory sit
on each side of the plate stand centerpiece.
Fall Decor
Purple ruffled bowls from Michael's sit atop orange
melamine plates from Target.
Fall Colors
Each bowl holds a seasonal pumpkin. And yes, the orange one is a salt shaker but it fit so perfectly don't you agree?
