St. Patrick's Day Table

http:www.kathewithane.com

Wow!  Where did February go??  The days are going way to fast as I get older. You too?
Soon, Spring will be here which is really okay with me!
Old Man Winter can go hibernate any day now!

Before Spring arrives though, there is still St. Patrick's Day to celebrate!
Corned beef, cabbage, green beer and the wearin' o' the green.

Of course I cannot let an occasion pass without some decorating o' my table.
http:www.kathewithane.com
A green tablecloth for sure.
http:www.kathewithane.com
My favorite oversized Ikea plates as chargers topped with
a fun green and white polka dot salad plate from Hobby Lobby.
White lace napkins from Boscovs online clearance
done up in a gold beaded napkin ring.
I also used my vintage gold plated flatware.
http:www.kathewithane.com
For the centerpiece I found some unloved Valentine's Day roses
in the clearance section at the grocery store.
$4.99 for this big bouquet!
I can't imagine what they were going for before February 14th!
And I'm here to tell you, they are still going strong today!
http:www.kathewithane.com
I really lucked out as they are pink but tinged with such a soft and pretty green.
http:www.kathewithane.com
I placed a shamrock candle ring under the vase.
http:www.kathewithane.com
A couple of silver and green votives add just a little brightness to the table.
http:www.kathewithane.com
Green Jello in some of Mr. B's stout glasses mimic green beer.
My Irish crystal stems are the finishing touch to the table.
http:www.kathewithane.com
Mr. B doesn't like corned beef and cabbage so, again this year,
I'll buy a corned beef while it's on sale and we'll have the,
not quite traditional, and not really Irish, Rueben sandwiches LOL!
At least the dill pickle on the side will be green!
Sláinte my friends!

Winter Warmth Table

We woke up to snow yesterday!
Not really that unusual when you consider we live in Colorado but,
last week the temps were near the 70s!
So, today is cold and, I decided to set a table to convey some warmth.
http://www.kathewithane.com
I started with a wool red and black checked stadium blanket as the tablecloth.
http://www.kathewithane.com
Next came a burlap placemat.
http://www.kathewithane.com
I purchased the dishes some time ago online from Boscovs.
They were clearanced at some ridiculous low price for the 8 piece set.
The pinecone motif became my theme for the table.
http://www.kathewithane.com
My friend Cuisine Kathleen has the same set of flatware from World Market.
Mine were a stocking stuffer from Santa.
http://www.kathewithane.com
As were the embroidered napkins.
http://www.kathewithane.com
The goblets are one of my very favorite thrift store finds!
I got 6 of them for $3.00. They are etched with pinecones and pine needles.
http://www.kathewithane.com
For the centerpiece, I used another thrift store find.
A worn wooden basket with handpainted pinecones and greens.
I loaded it with some pinecones from Mr. B's parents yard,
as well as a few red pinecones I had in my craft stash and added a tall candle for height.
http://www.kathewithane.com
So pretty with the goblets don't you think? Rustic and elegant on the same table.
http://www.kathewithane.com
On each side of the wooden basket are birch votive holders.
These are very special to me.
My oldest son made these, and many more,
for the tables at his and his beautiful bride's wedding reception.
They very sweetly sent me some to use on my tables.
http://www.kathewithane.com
More pinecones were used to hold name cards.
I left them blank so that I can add your name should you decide to join us for dinner.

Supper will be warm and hearty beef stew, rustic homemade bread, salad and bread pudding topped with cream for dessert.
And let's not forget,

Mother's Day Tablescape

This truly has to be the hardest table I have ever put together!
I normally am not a perfectionist,
unless it's one of my tablescapes.
Everything has to be perfect!
The table is my canvas upon which I can let my creative juices flow.
Knowing when to step back and say "enough"
is usually very hard for me.
But, not this week.
This week I present to you my
Mother's Day Table 2012
C'mon!  It's Mother's Day!
I will not be cooking nor will I be cleaning.
We will be dining out on Sunday!

To all of my readers,
whether you be a mother
to children, or pets,
a special Auntie or friend,
I wish you a very
Happy Mother's Day!

Of course I can't leave you with just my blank table
to look at so, I am re-posting
a table I put together back in September
as a shout out to my beautiful mother-in-law.

To: Linda
Happy Mother's Day!
I love you dear friend!
You are there for me
when I need you and I know
I am always in your prayers
Thank you!
From: Your favorite daughter-in-law ;]

For The Love Of Blue
I am very lucky.  I have a mother-in-law that is also a dear friend.  She and my dear father-in-law accepted me into the family from day one.  I carry the family name with great honor. She and I share so many of the same likes.  She loves to shop (me too!).  She is very thrifty (oh you know I am).  She desires to set pretty tables (hello!!).  And, we both think Mr. B is just wonderful (and I thank her for raising such a fine man ). The only thing we don’t share is our favorite color.  Mine changes with my mood and the season.  Right now, I am loving the orange of pumpkins, the golds of leaves changing, the rust of mums.  In Spring, I might be more moved by the reds of tulips or the yellow of a daffodil. My mother-in-law never wavers.  He true favorite color is, and always is, blue.

With her in mind, I set this table to share with her, and with you.

I started with an off white tablecloth. Forgive me for not taking an iron to it.  It's been a stressful week at work and I claim being tired.

I then layered a white plate from our every day Gibson set.  The small blue flowered salad plates were a Goodwill find, again on a 50% off day, and were .25 each. On top of that I placed Candlewick sherbet glasses. I also used a Candlewick salt & pepper set that I purchased on EBay.  They have never been used and still have the labels on them!

The napkins were purchased from on online source that for the life of me I can’t remember right now (Edit: I remembered!  Boscov's!).  The napkin rings were another gift from Mr. B. The flatware is the same as I used on my table last week  (see here) as are the crystal water goblets.

The candlesticks were yet another Goodwill 50% off purchase at $1.00 each.  I chose dark, cobalt blue candlesticks to go with the placemats.  The blue stems came from Dollar Tree, if you can believe it!  Mr. B thought they were from a much more expensive store. Was he ever happy to find out I spent only one dollar on each of them LOL.

To keep the centerpiece simple, I used a silver plated bread tray purchased in a lot at a local auction and used a faux loaf of bread found on sale from Hobby Lobby.

I hope my dear mother-in-law sees this table and knows that I set it with her love of the color blue in mind ♥ ♥

Easter Tablescape

Hoppy Easter!
As you know, I love this time of the year!
Easter is one of my favorite holidays.
I L.O.V.E
setting a table for Easter.
This year I decided to keep things
simple and let the
centerpiece shine
I used a galvanized metal tray
from Ikea,
loaded it up
with moss,
 moss "rocks"
and plastic eggs from the Dollar Tree.
I then topped it off
with a ceramic bunny
from Goodwill.

The pale, pastel green tablecloth is from
Bed Bath & Beyond from several years ago.
I started each placesetting
with a burlap placemat,
gifted to me by Mr. B.
The bright green plates are from
the Dollar Tree
and the square green polka dot
salad plates
were a clearance find
at Hobby Lobby.

The napkins were purchased online from Boscov's
and the flatware is from Ikea.
The green stems came from the Dollar Tree
and the clear water stems are our everyday glasses.
Each setting is topped off with a
different colored egg cup.

I found these wire votive baskets
several years ago, on clearance of course,
at Coldwater Creek.
Mr. B's mother liked them so much
she wanted some and I was able to find her four too.
I have used them in the past as placecards
with dyed eggs instead of a candle.
I only used two for this table.
The silver candlesticks are another
Ikea find.

Thank you so much for stopping by to see our simple Easter table.
May you have a very happy Easter!
