Let me guess! The kids are back, or almost back, to school right? It's almost Fall and the activity level is ramping up and you are at wits end trying to keep it all together? With homework, dance class, football practice and on and on, all you want is to get the family to gather at the table for a warm and hearty meal! Well, I got your back and so does Manwich! Manwich is the perfect versatile Easy Weeknight Meals solution for your busy family! And, I'm sharing an easy, tasty recipe that takes no time and little effort to put in front of your busy family!
Check out their website for recipe inspiration for Easy Weeknight Meals. You cannot beat the sweet, tangy taste of Manwich sauce in hamburgers, topping hot dogs, over pasta or in that traditionally messy sandwich, the Sloppy Joe. And, you can go here for even more Manwich Recipes.
Manwich comes in three flavors that are sure to please everyone: Original, Bold and Thick & Chunky. I received all three in the mail along with a sweet wooden spoon and pot holder. I love using wooden spoons so it was fun to use it as I made up the Manwich Salisbury Steaks and the red pot holder? Um yeah! LOVE!
Manwich Salisbury Steak & Gravy
Ingredients:
1 lb 80/20 Ground Beef
1 Can Manwich Thick & Chunky Sloppy Joe Sauce, Divided
1/2 cup Italian Seasoned Bread Crumbs
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon each, olive oil & butter
1/4 cup flour
1/2 cup water
Mix the ground beef, 1/2 cup of the Manwich Sauce, bread crumbs, egg and water together until fully combined. Form into 4 oblong (football shaped) patties, about 6 ounces each.
In a large skillet, heat oil & butter over medium high heat. Add beef patties and cook on each side. Cook the patties until they are well browned, about 4 to 5 minutes on each side. (The patties will not be cooked through and will finish cooking in the gravy.) Remove the patties from the skillet and keep warm.
Place the skillet back on the heat and add the flour (if it is too dry you may add additional butter as needed), whisking up all of the oil and browned bits. Add the remainder of Manwich Sauce and water and bring to a boil. Return the patties to the pan, reduce the heat to simmer and cook until the sauce has thickened and the steaks are fully cooked, about 10 minutes. Serve warm with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables.
